The following information is about Adhesion.
Adhesion Defined
Molecular attraction that holds the surfaces of two substances in contact. The force that holds different materials together at their interface and resist separation into two layers.

- Talin phosphorylatio n by Cdk5 regulates Smurf1-mediate d talin head ubiquitylation and cell migration : Article : Nature Cell Biology: The final paragraph: In migratory cells, talin is cleaved into head and rod domains by calpain. The head domain in turn binds to Smurf1 and is consequently ubiquitylated and degraded. This step, downstream of calpain, provides a more complete explanation for calpain-mediat ed focal adhesion turnover. We find that talin phosphorylatio n by Cdk5 inhibits talin head ubiquitylation and degradation, thus limiting focal adhesion turnover and stabilizing lamellipodia at the leading edges, which in turn leads to optimal rates of cell migration (Fig. 5i). Thus, our studies explain the capacity of talin proteolysis to promote focal adhesion disassembly, identify talin as an important target of Smurf1-induced ubiquitylation and degradation, and establish talin as a relevant substrate of Cdk5

- ScienceDirect - Biomaterials : The influence of side group modification in polyphosphazen es on hydrolysis and cell adhesion of blends with PLGA: Hydrolysis studies of the polyphosphazen e:PLGA (50:50) blends indicated that the PLGA component hydrolyzed more rapidly than the polyphosphazen e. Primary osteoblast cell studies showed good cell adhesion to the polymer blends during 14 days, but subsequent limited cell spreading due to increased surface roughness as the two polymers eroded at different rates.
